Powerhouse Lithium
Battery Winterization & Storage Guidelines
Dear Valued Customer or Dealer,
As the boating season winds down and colder weather approaches, we want to ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your Powerhouse Lithium batteries. Please review the following guidelines for proper winterization.
General Recommendations:
* Optimal Storage Temperature: Maintain a storage environment above 50°F for your batteries. While Powerhouse Lithium batteries have a minimal self-discharge rate (1% to 3% per month), consistent warmer temperatures are recommended.
* Pre-Storage Charging: Before storing, charge your batteries to 80% capacity. To prevent battery drain, disconnect all negative cables if leaving the battery in the boat. Check the battery every 3 months for "State of Charge" (SOC). Use the PHL app to view the cell page and ensure all cells are above 3250mv. Recharge to 80% if the voltage is getting low. This practice promotes optimal battery health and ensures readiness for the next boating season.

* Important Note: After the battery enters safe mode at 0% SOC, you have only two weeks to recharge it. The BMS (Battery Management System) and Bluetooth will continue to use power until the BMS shuts down. Failure to recharge within this timeframe is not a warranty issue, or covered by the warranty, and will result in a $150 service fee to fix.
* Battery Inspection and Cleaning: Before storing, inspect the case for any damage or cracks. Never charge batteries with cracked cases. Clean the battery with a dry cloth to remove any dirt or residue.
If Batteries Remain Onboard:
* Terminal Disconnection: Disconnect the battery terminals to prevent parasitic loads from onboard electronics, which can gradually drain the battery during the off-season.
* Moisture Prevention: Store the battery in a dry location within the boat, ensuring there is no risk of condensation buildup.
Specific Instructions for PHL Batteries 48Ah or less & PHL Ice Fishing Batteries:
* Periodic Charging: To maintain the longevity of your PHL batteries under 48Ah, charge them every 3 months during periods of inactivity.
